Description
THE OTHER SIDE OF BOURBON ST is from the residential portion of Bourbon St., located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Bourbon St. is located in the French Quarter and know to many for all the partying and celebrations that are held in this area. The street was named to give honor to France's ruling family, the House of Bourbon after the French claimed Louisiana as a colony in 1690's. After the Seven Year War, Louisiana was obtained by the Spanish. In 1788 New Orleans was devastated by a fire which destroyed 80% of the town. The spanish rebuilt the area which accounts for the spanish is why the French Quarter architecture has more of a Spanish influence rather than a French influence. In 1803 the Americans gained control of the colony through the Louisiana Purchase.
