MILAN-GUARDING THE CITY One of the most amazing scenes we experienced while climbing to the roof of the Milan Duomo.
The elevator took us up part of the way so the climb was not that bad. The view from each level was fantastic and you actually get a close view of the amazing sculptures which grace the walls of the Duomo. We almost missed the opportunity to take the climb. We were standing in a very long line to purchase our tickets and there was only 10 minutes left until they closed. For some reason, one of the guides came over to us, I guess we looked distraught or maybe she heard our disappointment, asked if we wanted to buy tickets to climb the Duomo. We replied and told her we were only in Milan for the night. She took us to an unoccupied sales window called one of the employees over and had them sell us two tickets. We were stunned. After thanking them profusely, we ran to get into the line to make our climb. If visiting Milan, do not skip the Duomo!
